Your Weight Loss Journey Starts with a Conversation
Every successful weight loss story starts with the same step: a comprehensive medical evaluation with a physician who takes the time to understand your body, your health, and your goals. At VPMC, your first visit isn’t a sales pitch — it’s a thorough medical appointment where Dr. Palagiri or her team reviews your complete health picture and creates a treatment plan designed specifically for you.
What to Expect at Your Consultation
Before Your Visit: No special preparation needed. If you have recent lab results from another provider, bring them along — they may save you from duplicate testing. Bring a list of all current medications and supplements.
During Your Visit (45–60 minutes): Complete medical history, physical exam, InBody body composition scan, lab orders, discussion of your weight loss goals, and a review of all treatment options (medications, nutrition, behavioral approaches). You’ll leave with a clear plan.
After Your Visit: If medication is prescribed, you’ll fill it at the pharmacy of your choice. Our team helps with insurance prior authorizations and manufacturer savings programs. Your first follow-up is typically scheduled within 2–4 weeks.
Who Is a Candidate?
You may be a candidate for medical weight loss if you have a BMI of 30 or above, a BMI of 27 or above with a weight-related health condition (diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, joint pain), struggled with diet and exercise alone, tried over-the-counter supplements or programs without lasting results, or want physician-supervised weight management integrated with your primary care.
Insurance & Cost
Office visits for obesity management are billed to your insurance as standard medical visits. Most major plans are accepted. Medications are prescribed and filled at your pharmacy — coverage varies by plan and medication. Our team works with you to find the most affordable medication option, including manufacturer savings programs and copay assistance cards. For questions about cost, insurance coverage, or payment options, call us at (571) 206-8696 and our team will walk you through everything before your first visit.
